My Life in Five Years

In my 30 years old life, I think that I would get married with someone and live in a small house. Also, I would work for a company that I really wanted to work. In summer I would go to Europe with my husband for our summer vacation. We could make it even though we’re living in busy. Also, we will save money for our kids, another vacation, and older life. Sometimes, I will hold a party to get aquainted with my friends and family. It must be great time for us.  If time is available, I would study some foreign language like Japanese or Chinese. I will be living my life as a normal person like everybody.

Why is the Korean public got angry with the American cows?

Nowadays, I can watch a demonstration parade on TV day and night. Surprisingly, most of the demonstrators are just common people. The scale of the demonstration is incredibly huge! They’re shouting as one voice with candles. The reason for these demonstrations is that the Korean government made a decision to import beef from the United States. Public said that American beef is very dangerous and can cause BSE. On the other hand, government said that American beef is a safe and cheap food to eat. Generally speaking, BSE is the abbreviation for bovine spongiform encephalopathy and often called mad cow disease. It may give rise to serious trouble because it is a new type of disease. If a person eats beef which is infected with BSE, the person is infected with CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease) which is 100% of lethal. CJD is a scary disease that can’t be cured. BSE is caused when a cow eats animal’s central nerve system. Eating animal feed made from other animals causes a change in the cow’s protein structure. The changed protein structure kills the cows by forming holes in their brains. Some farmers who work for American domestic animal industry in the U.S. have fed cows with dangeous feed. Now, the American government prohibits such feed, so olders cows more than 30 months old, are more likely to be infected. That’s why people generalize that American cows are dangerous to eat. In fact, many people died for CJD a few years ago in England and people were in mortal fear of suffering or dying from CJD. By contrast, only few people were infected with the disease in the U.S. That’s why it is wrong to say that American cows are dangerous to eat. However, with Korean traditional dishes, we usually eat all of parts of cow including the nervous system and internal organs. Therefore, scientists say that Koreans may have more chance to be sick, so it is a very serious issue for Koreans. Nevertheless, the Korean government decided to import older cows without enough communication with the public. Efficient import and export should be encouraged but it should be considered seriously if it is related to the public’s health. Since they didn’t have much time to communicate with the public, there were many rumors about BSE or CJD. For example, many people believe that BSE could carry infection from the cow to people even though they don’t eat a beef and many scientists and give us some theories without enough verification. Also, internet users circulate many false reports. It may instigate many young students to participate in the illegal demonstration. Moreover, many people could live in fear.

 

 

I think that people are not angry only with the importation of beef from America but also angry because they were ignored by the government. If the government gave public to take time to catch on for the importation, the demonstrations would not happen like this have used force. Therefore, people have no choice but to demonstrate excessively to show their anger. All of Korea wait for the choice that the government will make. It will take much time. Also, if we cancel the contract, it could be dishonor of this country. I hope that everything will be go peaceably and the Korean government will make the right decision.

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

Review-Taken(2008)

 Taken is about a man’s paternal affection to his dauther. His dauther is kidnapped to in Paris and he go to save her so, the background of the movie is Paris. I saw this movie with my sister and we really enjoyed the movie. I thought that It is kind of action or thriller movie that I can enjoy without deep thinking. Before I saw this movie I just knew that some people was kidnapped in Europe somewhere and I was not interested in this problem. However, it shows me how serious kidnapping in Europe. Also, It let me know my father loves me a lot. 

The most influential Korean figure in history

 President    Jung Hee Park(1917.11.14~1979.10.26)

He was an ex-President of South Korea for 18 years since 1963. He was born on November 14, 1917 in Sun-San, Gyeongsangbuk-do as the lastborn of the family.  Also, he was born of a poor family instead of well-matched rich family for a president. After he graduated a college of edudation, he was an elementary shcool teacher for 3 years. Then, he went over to Japan to study at Japan military academy in 1944 and became a soldier. In that time, Korea was falling under Japanese imperialism. After independence of Korea, he came back to Korea and became a Korean military officer. He has consecutively filled various and high-rangking military posts about 15 years. He and his political fellows brought a political change in Korea military setup in May 16, 1961. Finally, He became a president in 1963. With the fact that he was a president for 18 years, we can see that he was a dictator. Therefore, all of Korean was under his conservative dictatorship. All of man couldn’t let thier hair grow long and all of women couldn’t wear short skirt with over knee high. Many of them resisted against unlawful oppression but, it was really hard to act in that situation. That’s why they wanted that Korea became a democratic country. From this point of view, President Park was a vicious dictator in Korean history.

However, I don’t think that he was bad in all points. When he was a president, Korea was an underdeveloped country. Many people were poor and most industries were not developed. The President Park organized Saemaeul Movement which was a community development all over the country. It was sucessful and help the country to be modernized. Also, his program for economic development helped emerge from poverty of Korea. Nevertheless, he was killed by an assassin in October 26, 1979. Though he was a dictator, we can see he was great commander. Some old people still think that he was the great president in korean history. Also, they say that we need a president as strong as him because of recent bad economic conditon. His daughter, Geun Hey Park, is also influential figure in politics. She has many political fans because of her good image from her father. Considering this fact, I could see that President Park is still influential person in Korea.   

My vacation in China

I went China, Shanghai  with my sister last year. We could eat famous traditional Chenese food. It was really great. Also, we went the bigest zoo in China by bus. The night of China was really beautiful. We spent a lot of money in this good mood. We bought lots of traditional things on the street and It cost $300. T.T

 

Something that makes me happy. :)

I have a digital camera that my father gave me two years ago as a present. Since I got this camera, I was with this camera all the time and took a lot of pictures. That’s why I have lots of pictures in my computer and my blog. The pictures are a treasure for me because, that is my history. It makes me to remember the day I was happy with my friend. I will print all of my pictures and put it in my album someday.   

The April 9 National Assembly Elections

                 

I went to the poll yesterday morning. I am really interested in  politics. Also, I think that it is a way of conduction my own right. Since I was 20 years old, I never miss any national elections that I have a right to vote. From this point of view, I am kind of political person. As always, two parties, Hannara-Dang and Minju-Dang, struggled to get more seats in the National Assembly. Also, the other candidates did too.

This Election was held right after presidental election. As the result president Park who is from Hannara-Dang won by a wide margin.That is why this election was harder than berfore. In my home town, Guro-El, has 6 candidates like upper pictures. The pictures are organized  in numerical order from the left. There is candidates from number 1throgh number 7 except number 5. The first one, Park, Young-Sun was eleted with 47.3% approval rating and 34,783 votes. It was hard fighting with second candidate who is Ko, Kyung-Hwa from Hannara-Dang. Ms. Park won by a small margin who is a member of a party of Minju-Dang. It was dramatic result I think. She has very special career. She was an newscaster of MBC. I think that it brought her into relief.  She has policies that she promised us such as making park and forein highscool. Usually, the parties have simular policy. Some candidates even say same policy with last election in 2004. Frankly speaking, I don’t believe that she can do everyting she mentioned in her duty. However, in my opinion, every member of our village should encourage her to improve our town. I think it is a duty of citizen. I think that every parties must focus on economy and common people’s life. That is one of reason we vote. That is why election is very important.

After this eldction, I saw total result of this election and I was impressed someone’s achivement. He was not a candidate in my town though. His name is Kang, Ki-Kab who was a real farmer few years ago. He is a memver of the Labor Party which is the minority in this country. He has been a spokesman of Korean farmers for a long time. He was supported by the majority of the farmers. Finally, He gain a victory over a goliath. In deed, it is a victory of farmers. They show their power as a citizen. It was great victory I think. I think that day off on election day is good idea for reminding importance of election. However, somepeople just think that it is like a personal day off for rest. Also, it is more important to people who have young kids. If parents don’t vote with any reason, they are not going to vote when they grow up. They need to learn from their parents about importance of political rights. Vote as a citizen is really important. It is a way of showing our opinion. A nation is based on all of the citizen. They have to involve in the country with vote. In view of Mr. Kang’s case, I realized  that participation is really important. It shows us that a citizen could change the nation.  

My perfect day

 

My perfect day is dating day with my boy friend. We usually make today’s goal such as study day, shopping day, museum day or nothing to do day. I am haapy to spend time with my boy friend cause’ I love him a lot even if we are doing nothing. Just a cup of coffee is find to chat. I love that. Sometimes, we go to national museum in Seoul. We love art both. Also, we love to walk. In winter time, It was hard to do. However, this season like this weather is great for walk. Last weekend we went Han-River. There was lots of spring flowers. We usully eat street food like Tuckboki. My perfect day is not special.However, It is the best time for taking rest.   

My Favorite Blog

My favorite blog is “Fashionwindows”. It is about hottest fashion. I found it last assignment. There is a lot of fashion trend so, I enjoy that one. I don’t use internet a lot but, sometimes I stop by the site to see someting special. For example, luxury dress with famous star or new trend in NY. It is very fun. I think I read this blog at least once a week. It is huge for me. I don’t enjoy internet surfing a lot because I am not good at using internet. It is better than the others. It has big photos and detailed explanation. I like it. Frankly speaking, Korean fashion blog is more useful for me. I can see Korean fashion in fast. Also, some blogers post thier picture that they coordinated. That is why I like Korean blog more.
